Welcome to Greening Arundel
Working together towards a greener Arundel
Greening Arundel is a network of 15 like-minded organisations collaborating to achieve a positive impact on our local environment through community-wide engagement and a call to collective action. Our projects are carried out by the 40-strong Green Team of volunteers.

Nature in Art: Poetry Trail
Arundel Festival of Arts 2026
Following the recent Facebook and Instagram feature from Sussex by the Sea, the Poetry Trail is making a splash on Arundel’s Arts Festival programme.
Walkers are encouraged to start and finish at the station, where they will find a beautiful town map on the path outlining various route options extending to Swanbourne Lake in one direction and to Ford Rd cemetery and the Community Orchard in the other. While we recommend taking a photo of the map, hand-held copies are available at the Station Office and Arundel Museum. The Trail comprises no less than 16 original poems by local poets each focussed on the nature or history of our beautiful town. Scanning the multicoloured NaviLens QR code provides access to a recording of each poet reading their work. Enjoy!

"In my twenty years of community ‘greening’ I have never come across a group that’s so committed, coordinated, effective and fun to be around."
Arun District Councillor Stephen McAuliffe, January 2024

“The enthusiasm and dedication of the volunteers has...brought about the dramatic physical changes we have seen, but also galvanised these volunteers into a motivated team who have built bonds with each other and the wider community. There is something very powerful about a collective purpose and a shared sense of achievement. As Mayor of Arundel, I thank you all for your creative vision and for providing the town with a green welcome to Arundel that we can all be proud of.”
Carolyn Kenney, Mayor of Arundel, January 2025.

Community Awards
On Friday 29th November, we were awarded the 2024 Community Award by Arundel Town Council for a sustained and positive contribution to life in Arundel. It was a wonderful evening for the whole group to reflect together on everything that has been achieved over the last year.
We were also shortlisted for 2025 Community Rail Awards for 'Influencing Positive Change and Sustainability', for our work at Arundel Train Station... and this March some of our Green Team members went up to Newscastle for the Community Awards ceremony and joyfully accepted the prize for Outstanding Contribution to Community Rail!
Greening Arundel representatives and the Green Team were delighted to join Arundel’s Mayor and the Chair of Arun District Council for the award of Green Flags for Ford Road Cemetery and Jubilee Gardens in 2025 and 2026.
Greening Arundel representatives were delighted to accept a Gold Stations in Bloom Award at RHS Wisley in October 2025. It is now proudly displayed above the station office.
